I really wonder why Nokia did not think of providing a touch based lock/unlock feature in Nokia X6. There are some third party applications though which make it possible to lock/unlock your phone the Iphone way but that is mostly flash based and puts a lot of stress on the already depleted phone resources like RAM and battery.
PocketSensor Automatic Keylock is a nice application to have on your phone. It adds a very simple yet superb capability to your phone. It allows you to cover/swipe your finger over the proximity sensor and lock/unlock your phone. Since, the application does not use the front camera, the RAM and the battery usage is minimal and thus, it is light on the phone’s resources.
For those who are not aware with the term ‘proximity sensor’, it is located just beside your front VGA camera and locks/unlocks your phone when your cover it. The actual functionality of this sensor in Nokia X6 is to switch off the screen when you receive a call and you hold the phone close to your ear.
Even if you are in the dark, the application determines well that you have not covered the sensor and it would activate/deactivate the lock only if you cover/swipe over it.
Unfortunately we do not have a free version of the application or a well-defined time limited version. You can however install and see the demo of the application and see how easy and comfortable it is to lock or unlock the application with PocketSensor Automatic Keylock.
